Biocides

The presene of biological contamination is a frequent feature of water-based cooling systems and drinking and tap water systems with cold water. Chemical disinfection with biocides is the primary method of combating microorganisms. Biocides, in contrast to more delicate disinfectants, are chemical formulas containing at least one active substance making it possible to destroy, neutralize or control the growth of harmful organisms. In the case of open cooling water circuits such as, e.g., cooling towers, the use of biocides is indispensable to the installation's proper operation
