Sewage neutralizing units

Sewage neutralizing units offered by Watersystem are state-of-the-art devices used to correct the pH of sewage. This process is carried out when the acidity or alkalinity of waste processed by industrial sewage treatment plants is too high. The use of Watersystem neutralizing units allows the natural pH level to be restored, making it possible to discharge sewage into the sewage system.

We provide comprehensive systems using the acid-alkaline sewage neutralization process. The acid and alkali neutralizing units offered by our company can be installed in flow, capacity and flow-capacity systems. They are used in places where acids and alkalis must be neutralized before discharging them to the sewage system (laboratories, chemical laboratories, battery rooms, storage facilities operated by battery forklift trucks, etc.), as well as in electroplating plants, heavy metal industry plants, etc.

Sewage neutralization

Manufacturing plants use large amounts of acids and alkalis to carry out appropriate chemical processes, depending on the business line of the plant's production output. Acids and alkalis released into industrial sewage most often prevents their discharge into the sewage system.

The neutralization process consists of several stages:

  • neutralization of sewage generated in an industrial plant is a process in which an appropriate neutralizing agent is used depending on the pH of sewage. Alkaline reaction causes the use of an acidic reagent, while acidic reaction causes the use of an alkaline reagent. During the production process in a plant where both acidic and alkaline sewage is produced, neutralization may consist in mixing sewage in appropriate proportions;
  • precipitation and separation of metals from sewage – a process in which metals precipitate in the form of non-soluble hydroxides. The pH value, which is constantly monitored, is extremely important here;
  • reduction of selected anions from sewage – e.g. sulphates, fluorides, phosphates in precipitation processes.
